The 3pm Energy Crash Is Not Inevitable. This Recipe Is Your Fix

You know the feeling.

Back-to-back calls. A packed schedule. And somewhere around mid-afternoon, your focus starts to scatter and your body starts asking questions you do not have time to answer.

Most founders treat that crash as the cost of doing business. Push through, grab something convenient, keep going. But that pattern compounds. The energy you are borrowing in the afternoon is energy you will not have tomorrow.

Nourishment is not separate from how you lead. It is part of the infrastructure that makes leadership possible. And on the days when time is the scarcest resource you have, you need meals that work as hard as you do.

Meal prep is not just a time-saver. It is an act of self-respect.

This recipe is my answer to busy days. One pan, 25 minutes, and enough staying power to keep you focused and fueled for hours without the crash.

Rooted and Restored: 25-Minute Turmeric Chicken and Sweet Potato Skillet

25 minutes   |   Serves 3 to 4   |   One pan

Why Every Ingredient Is Doing a Job

This bowl is not just satisfying. Every component is intentional.

Chicken:  lean protein that stabilizes blood sugar and quiets cravings so you are not spiraling into the snack drawer two hours later.

Sweet potato:  complex carbohydrates and beta carotene that deliver steady energy and fight inflammation from the inside out.

Turmeric and black pepper:  nature's most studied anti-inflammatory combination. The black pepper activates the turmeric. Always use them together.

Broccoli:  a cruciferous powerhouse that supports estrogen balance and your body's natural detoxification process.

Olive oil:  anti-inflammatory healthy fat that supports brain function and pulls the entire plate together.

What You Need

1 lb organic chicken breast, diced

1 large sweet potato, cubed small

2 cups broccoli florets

1 tbsp olive oil

Juice of half a lemon

Spices: 1 tsp turmeric, half tsp smoked paprika, half tsp garlic powder, half tsp cumin, salt and pepper to taste

How to Make It

01.  Heat it up.  Warm olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

02.  Start with the sweet potato.  Add sweet potato cubes and cook 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly softened.

03.  Add chicken and all the spices.  Toss in diced chicken and every spice on your list. Cook 6 to 8 minutes until browned and cooked through.

04.  Bring in the broccoli.  Add florets and cover the pan for 3 to 4 minutes to steam. This step keeps the nutrients intact.

05.  Finish strong.  Squeeze in lemon juice. Taste, adjust seasoning, and plate.

Make It Once. Eat Well All Week.

This skillet was built for portioning. Make a full batch on Sunday or Monday morning, divide it into containers, and you have lunches and dinners that reheat beautifully and keep you full and focused for three to four hours at a stretch.

That matters on the days when you do not have time to think about food.

Having something already made that actually supports your body is not a luxury. On a hard week, it is the thing that keeps you showing up.

Fueling with intention is a leadership practice, not a lifestyle trend.
